Phoenix-’16 , Rise with Triumph

Department of English organized a Literary carnival-Phoenix-’16, was celebrated on the 4th of Nov. ’16 at 10.30 am at the College premises.  Phoenix is conducted every year to rejuvenate students’ interest on literature and bring forth their creative cum literary flair. Various competitions viz. Essay writing, Poetry writing, short story writing, paper presentation, literary paintings, literary pageant, Drama competition, and Literary Exhibition were conducted.

Ms. S. Parameshwari, Head, Department of English, delivered the Welcome address. Shri. S.  Pazhaniraja, Vice-Chairman, Saradha Gangadharan College presided over the function and Prof. Dr. L. Nadarajan, Principal felicitated the occasion. Our Distinguished Chief Guest, Dr.  G.Ruby Davaseeli, Associate Professor, Department of English, Mahatma Gandhi Government Arts College, Mahe enlightened the occasion with her special lecture on “Empower Communication skills through Language and Literature”.  Our Chief Guest distributed prizes and certificates for the winners of the competitions.  It was followed by cultural events and concluded with the vote of thanks, delivered by K. Akshaya, I B.A., English Language and Literature.    Dr. M. Parimala, Asst. Prof. of English, hosted the functions.
