In line with the affirmative policy of Government of India, Saradha Gangadharan College has resolved that the affirmative policies, programmes, schemes, facilities would be provided to the persons belonging to socially, Educationally and economically weaker sections of the society.

The SC/ST Cell of Saradha Gangadharan College, Puducherry was constituted in the year 2017. The college is committed to provide an environment that promotes diversity and respects everyone regardless of Caste, colour, religious belief or cultures. While maintaining diversity of all kinds, it also commits to ensuring protection of everyone including SC/STs and acting as per the provisions of constitution of India in such matters.

Grievance Redressal Cell

Grievance Redressal Cell is established to understand the problems faced by students within the college and to redress them. The objectives of the cell are to:

  • Create a platform where students feel to point out their problems, general drawbacks and limitations.
  • Get suggestions from the Students for improvement.
  • Give students the sense of participation in problem solving.
  • Clear misunderstandings or false notions.
  • Restructure policies in the light of grievances.

For the said purpose suggestion boxes are kept. Suggestion Boxes are opened every month. Meeting of the Cell is held every month to attend the problems of the Students. Grievances are scrutinized, recorded and genuine ones are redressed. Members of the Committee inform the concerned section to attend to the problems

College Disciplinary Committee

The college is keenly interested to take care of good behaviour of every student. Therefore the college ensures to maintain strict discipline in the college campus by taking the following measures.

  • To enforce strict dress code among students.
  • To enforce total prohibition of Cell Phone usage by the students inside the College Campus.
  • To Monitor the movement of the students in the college and prevent students loitering around in the corridors during the college working hours.
  • To ensure that all the students attend classes without bunking & prevent the Students leaving the college early. Please note that no student can leave the College early without prior permission of the higher authorities (Gate pass issued needs to be produced).
  • Smoking is strictly prohibited in the college campus and ensure that this is being strictly followed.
  • To ensure that students maintain utmost silence in the library.
  • To maintain proper discipline in the college canteen.
  • To assist the college anti-ragging committee in preventing ragging in the College and to spread anti-ragging campaign throughout the students community.

Anti Ragging Committee

Ragging is totally prohibited in our College, inside and / or outside the campus and anyone found guilty of ragging and / or abetting ragging whether actively or passively, or being a part of conspiracy to promote ragging, is liable to be punished under the provisions of any penal law for the time being in force. The following are the measures to curb ragging activities:

  • Misconduct of any student either in spoken or written form or any action that has the effect of harming others.
  • Indulging in indiscipline activities that cause physical or psychological harm or fear or apprehension
  • Asking others to do things that they normally will not do and causes a sense of shame or emotional embarrassment.
  • Any act that disrupts others academic activity.
  • Financial extortion or forceful monetary burden on a fresher or any other student.
  • Any act of physical abuse including sexual, homosexual assaults stripping of clothes, forcing obscene lewd acts and gestures causing physical and mental torture.
  • Any act of abuse by spoken words, emails, posts, public insults to derive sadistic pleasure.
  • Any act that affects the mental health and self confidence of any student with or without an intent to derive sadistic pleasure or priority over others.

Equal Opportunity Cell

The Equal Opportunity Cell was inaugurated on 18th January, 2017. The cell has been set up to address the issues related to staffs & students belonging to Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe, Other Backward Caste, minorities, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) & women on a continual basis. The cell mainly focuses on the socially and economically unprivileged students by exposing them to quality education and soft skill development and preparing them to face competitive exams with no fear. Also, to bring them to the national main stream, some activities are planned to be implemented every year.

Internal Compliant Committee (ICC)

Gender equality and the empowerment of women are essential human rights and play a vital role in fostering a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable society. Saradha Gangadharan College is committed to promote gender equity and ensuring equal opportunities for its female faculty, staff, and students. The institution upholds a strict zero-tolerance policy against gender discrimination and sexual harassment on campus. To safeguard this commitment, the college has formed an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) as per the guidelines of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013, and the UGC Regulations, 2015 for higher educational institutions. The ICC serves as a dedicated platform to address complaints related to sexual harassment and provide support to those affected. Furthermore, Saradha Gangadharan College actively organizes gender sensitization programs, inviting distinguished speakers from various fields to discuss gender-related challenges and emphasize the significant role of women in society.

For imparting training on soft skills, which are to be gained by all students to improve their personalities. This training programme on soft skills is organized to prepare themselves to enhance their personality, traits, social skills, communication, personal habits, interpersonal skills, managing people, leadership, etc.

We have tied up with the leading institutes to impart training on the following topics:

English Language Foundation Program

Bridge course on English languages

This course is aimed at giving confidence to students to communicate effectively in English. The students especially from the vernacular medium will benefit in being able to better understanding the lectures which are in English. This course will also help the students in communicating with the outside world in English. Duration of the course is for 45 hours and the program is conducted to the first year students in the first semester. It is compulsory to all first year students and it is offered to them on a sharing basis of 50% each.

English Language Application Program

Students, who are unable to communicate fluently or learn effectively in English, typically require specialized or modified instruction in both the English language and in their academic courses. In order to meet this needs, a specialized program called “English Language Application Program” is conducted to the students for a duration of 65 hours after the regular class hours, i.e. either during week days or weekends. This is helping the students to enrich their knowledge in reading, writing, speaking, and listening comprehension of the English language. Acquiring of these capabilities are helpful for them to get through the competitive examinations as well as interviews.

Employability Training Program

Every year many leading companies are conducting campus interviews to select candidates for placement. The students are to be trained to equip themselves to face interviews. Employability Training will accredit and enhance work-related activities, and develop and recognize general employability skills. It is primarily intended for students, who are not yet ready for employment but for whom getting a job is a reasonable aim within a matter of months. This training is providing required information and guidance in establishing and delivering a successful inputs for equipping themselves to meet the situations.

Our college has tied up with leading training organizations, which demonstrates significant commitment to enhance employability skills including self management, career knowledge, technical knowledge etc. The inputs of the training program will help the students to acquire positive attitude, aptitude skills, analytical skills, mastering group discussion techniques, interview skills etc.

Saradha Gangadharan College prioritizes the health and well-being of its students. To support this, the management has approved the establishment of a medical clinic within the college premises. Medical services are provided by Dr. Ranjith Kumar, M.B.B.S, along with Ms. Silambarasi, Staff Nurse, for both students and staff members. Additionally, periodic health check-ups are conducted to assess and promote physical fitness and overall well-being.

The campus is barrier free and accessible for persons with differently able (PwD). College has various provisions in creating a disabled friendly campus. For the benefit of the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) the College has provided ramps where ever required and has also provided PwD friendly washroom and Lab are available in ground floor. Health care and equipments are also available in the College campus for PwD students.
