Dr. D. Silambarasan, Asst. Prof of Commerce/NCC officer of SGC, has completed 49 Senior / Division Pre Commission Course for Flying Officer held at ANO faculty Air Force Station , Tambaram from 16.10.2023 to 17.12.2023. Faculty Motivation Programme was organised by SGC in collaboration with Madras Management Association. Mrs. Lakshmi Subramanian, Executive Director, Global Adjustments Foundation was delivered the motivational speech.

SGC won Overall Championship in Incognita, Intercollegiate Event organized by Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology . BBA students won first prize in Business Quiz and Best Manager with cash prize of RS.4500 and Dept. of Commerce won first prize in Business Connection with cash prize of Rs.3000 .

Department of Management Studies organised National Level Inter Collegiate management Meet BIZ-FORTITUDE 2024 with active participation of students from various colleges in Pondicherry and Tamil Nadu.

The Department of Corporate Secretaryship signed a MOU with Federation of Consumer Organizations of Tamilnadu (FEDCOT) India Consumer Movement Pondicherry. This was an initiative to educate the learners on legal awareness and advocacy of consumers through seminars and training programs.

Department of Commerce Conducted a workshop on "Consumer Rights" on 11-3-2024. 120 students were Participated and benefited.

Three teams of students from Departments of Computer Science-PG & UG and Computer Applications, participated in the "HACkATHON-24", the coding competition organized by Department of Computer Science & Engineering of Sri Sairam College of Engineering, Anekal, Bengaluru. The teams successfully implemented 3 different web apps within 24 hours of continuous effort.

On 29th February, Saradha Gangadharan college Sexual Harassment prevention cell organized a one-day national training program on Rights of women in India. This national training program was sponsored by National Human Rights Commission (NHRC),Govt. of India, New Delhi more than 100 female students from various HEI in Puducherry participated in this training program. Chief guest Dr. N. Panchanathan, UGC – Standing Committee Member ,Former Vice-Chancellor, Tamilnadu Teachers University, inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp and spoke about importance of women rights. The first session resource person Dr. S. Rajasekar, Principal District Munsif, Puducherry presented about basics of human rights and law that every citizen should know. The second session was handled by the resource person Mrs. J. Marie Anna Dayavady, Advocate and Notary spoke about the constitution of India and Fundamental Articles every woman should know. Afternoon session was addressed by Dr. S. Nalini, Professor, Department of Social Works, Pondicherry University on the crucial topics like Domestic Violence, Human Trafficking and the Government schemes available for women with disabilities followed by Dr. Diana Sharmila Nathan, Chief Medical Officer JIPMER explained about Nutrients, anemia, importance of sleeping and managing stress in workplace and Dr. Meena Gopal, Associate Professor. Centre for Women Studies, Pondicherry University spoke on employment and educational issues relating to women. The Technical Sessions were concluded with the students feedback received and certificates were issued to all the participants in valedictory function. This program gave all students valuable insights about fundamental human rights, women rights, important articles of the Indian Constitution and it insisted the importance of knowing about domestic violence against women and human trafficking. Overall, this program was helpful to the female students with more interactions of various knowledgeable resource persons who gave them many new and valuable experience and insights about women’s rights.

A of II M.A English, participated in 11th National Amateur Chess Championship - 2024 (National Tournament) at Jaipur from 13.02.2024 to 17.02.2024 and has placed 5th Position in Nationals. He has also got selected for World Tournament, which is going to be held at America in the Month of October.

On account of 6th Naturopathy day, KBSR Campain was conducted by Yoga Education Center of SGC in association with Surya Foundation & International Naturopathy Organization based on the theme "Naturopathy for Holistic Health". Dr. L. Franklin Herbert Das, Reginal president of INO, south India was the chief Guest and Dr. M. She has also received Achiever of the Year 2023 Award on 27th August 2023 for the same.

Saradha Gangadharan College witnessed its 17th Graduation Day on 12.05.2023. SGC, positioned among the top Arts & Science Colleges in the union territory of Puducherry, has always aimed at enhancing our students’ skill development and thinking capabilities, which have in turn helped them achieve academic excellence, consistently. This year was no different – we take immense pride in informing that our students have achieved 8 Gold medals in the Pondicherry University (PU) examination. 23 graduates were appreciated and honored with a silver medal by the college for having stood first at the college level in the exams conducted by Pondicherry University. A total of 832 Under Graduates and Post Graduates received their degree. Placement Cell organised 3 days “Barclays Lifeskills CSR Training” conducted free of cost by GTTF- Global Talent Track Foundation for the final year UG and PG students of Saradha Gangadharan College from 24th to 26th April 2023 at the Conference Hall. Around 100 students actively participated in the training program. The topics covered were Employability and Interview Skills. Mr. Gopalakrishna Varma, a freelance trainer guided the students and gave an idea to set the career platform during the training program. The students gained knowledge about corporate culture, helped to increase their profile weightage and also grabbed E Certificate.

The placement cell of our college organized a session on Mobility and Web 3.0 on 12th April 2023. Mr. Kannan Rajendiran, CEO, ASKAN Technologies Pvt. Yoga Education Center of Saradha Gangatharan College organized Naturopathy Camp in association with International Naturopathy Organization Surya Foundation and National Institute of Naturopathy to celebrate 5th Naturopathy Day under the theme “Naturopathy: Integrative Medicine”. Athujai, State Coordinator of International Naturopathy Organisation, Puducherry was the special speaker and explained the importance of yoga in its various stages. Dr. L Franklin Herbert Das, South India President , International Naturopathy Organization was the chief guest and delivered the key note address in virtual mode. In his speech he enlightened that naturopathy is not a medicine but a way of life and he explained how the Students should improve the quality of life through naturopathy. All the participants were served with natural food such as sprouted green gram, sweet aval, vegetables salad, fruit salad and lemon juice mixed with ginger and mint towards the end of the function.

Placement Cell organised a Guest Lecture on “Career Profiling and Opportunities” on 22nd Feb2023, Wednesday for the final year students of Saradha Gangadharan College. Dr. S. Arunmozhi, Professor & Head, ECE Department, Manakula Vinayagar Institute of Technology was the Resource Person. Placement Cell organised a Guest Lecture on “Progress Infinity” on 24th Feb2023, Friday for the second and third year students of Saradha Gangadharan College. A faculty development programme was organized on 01.02.2023 by the research forum in the conference hall under the topic “Research Methodology”. The FDP started with the Lamp Lightening ceremony followed by welcome address. The principal Dr.K.Uthayasuriyan addressed the gathering specifying the importance of the day and the expertise about the speaker. The resource person Dr.Mahendrakumar.M, Assistant Professor, Department of Bio-Technology, Gurunanak College, Chennai an eminent educationalist and an MOES Innovative Ambassador dealt on various aspects of research, publishing papers in reputed journals and how to improve the citation. He quoted numerous methods and tips for minimizing plagiarism. Also, the queries of the participants were well addressed by the speakers.

As per the direction of Ministry of Home Affairs, Cyber Jaagrookta Awareness Diwas 2022 was organized by Cyber Cell, Puducherry, jointly in hands with YRC and RRC of SGC on 06.10.2022. Mr. Manoj, Inspector and Irusavel, Police Constable shared their valuable input about to slow down the rate of rising cyber crimes through social media to our students.

As a part of Swach Sagar Surakshit Sagar Compaign the NSS Cell of UT of Puducherry involved in coastal cleaning activities on 27.08.2022 under the theme "Clean Coast, Safe Sea". Top 3 participants were be given prizes and top 50 were rewarded with a certificate.

On the eve of 75th anniversary of Independence Day, YRC Volunteers of Saradha Gangadharan college Velrampet Puducherry celebrated the day with the inmates of Thiagajothi Community center Thattanchavady on13th August. Stationary articles and 10 litres of milk were given to the children's. JaiHind.

Like every year, this year also, our college commemorated Independence Day on 15 August 2022 with great joy and pomp. On that day the sense of happiness and pride could be clearly seen on the faces of all as India was celebrating its 75th Independence Day. The program started with prayer at 08:00 am. The NSS students were standing in the proper lining of the ground. After that, a parade was organized which was led by our NSS volunteers. After the parade was over, Dr.S.Natarajan, Asst. Professor and Head, UG Department of Commerce unfurled the flag at around 8:45 am. As soon as the flag was hosted, everyone sung the national anthem.

Every year, December 22 is celebrated as National Mathematics Day in India to honour the mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan (1887-1920). On Account of his remembrance, PG & UG Deparment of Mathematics encourage students to bring out the talents of young minds apart from their curriculum. In view of this many events such as Poster, Drawings, Photography, Quiz, Connection Quiz, Elocution, Paper presentation and mathematical games have been conducted. The prize winners were appreciated and were awarded with a Shields, Medals and certificates on 3/8/2022.

Basic principles of First aid training was given to our YRC Volunteers on 21st July.Faculties and students of YRC Volunteers of Sabari college of Nursing Kirumampakkam Puducherry imparted the training. A magnificent sports extravaganza was organized at SGC playground for the year 2021 – 2022 in which all the students from various courses participated with great fervour and manifested their athletic skills with an unimpeachable finesse.The event commenced with the March Past led by the College Cabinet and the squads of all four Houses and Hoisting of the Flag. This year marked the 21st Annual Sports Meet and as such, the celebrations were held with great pomp to suit the occasion.Several indoor and outdoor sports activities like chess, carrom, badminton, Cricket,Volley Ball, Throw Ball, etc. were conducted for both girls and boys. Various track and field events were also conducted which saw emerging talent sweep the winning trophies.The culmination of. the Day witnessed loud cheers during the prize distribution ceremony at the hands of the Vice Chairman of the college Dr.S Pazhaniraja.

Department of management studies participated in five events organized by PU community college and won prizes in all the events. They also bagged cash award in Adzap,business quiz ,Business rangoli and logo designing, corporate walk third prize. Saradha Gangadharan College organised Self Defense programme for girls in the college conference hall on12/7/2022. A total of 120 girls took part in it and they were trained by Ms. R.T Hemamallini, WPC, Sigma Security, Police Department. Various techniques and stunts were taught to the girls and important tips were given to them how to defend and protect themselves in every situation. The college conducts this programme regularly to empower and educate girls to be bold, confident and face life courageously.

Rotaract club volunteers of Saradha Gangadharan participated in the WOW programme on 15.5.2022 organized by On and Off Roaders Bikers Club of Puducherry. Our students totally participated in eight events organized by Archariya Arts and Science College on 18.5.2022 and won seven first prize, three second prize with overall championship.

Village Adoption Scheme is to equip and familiarize the faculty and students with the socio-economic dimensions of the rural communities, for sustainable development processes and create a cohesive community where every individual gets equal opportunity to realise his/her potential. Under the village adoption scheme Our SGC NSS Volunteers took Survey in Santhikuppam Village on 20.5.2022 to identify the needs of the people of the village.

To embark entrepreneurship and to realize the dreams of the students , Entrepreneural Development Cell of SGC organized a Business Model Exhibit in our college on 21st March 2022 to identify the hidden talents of students and to bring in the creative business ideas of our upcoming entrepreneurs. Students actively participated in the exhibit and developed creative models.

On March 15 , 2022 the Swachh Swasth cell of our College organised an awareness program on “Women Health and Nutrition” exculsively for girl Students and female Faculty members of our college. The Resource person Dr. R. Prema ,Medical Officer Incharge ,PHC, Ariyur an awardee of the Best Health Wellness centre from the Government of India has contributed to the health nutrition and education of women and children. She emphasized on the importance of nutritional and dietary care for girls. Awareness and suggestions on Menstruation related issues were given to students. Regular physical activity and Healthy conventional food habits were prescribed to the students which in turn would improve their quality of learning and living. They were sensitized to maintain hygiene and to be cautious while disposing sanitary napkins. This program created an awareness among the students to have healthy food habits, to do regular physical activity and to maintain hygienic life style. Students participated and clarified their doubts in the drive with great enthusiasm and were benefitted out of the program.

World Consumer Rights Day is celebrated every year on 15 th March, which is an international event that signifies celebration and unity in the international consumer movement. The day reminds us of the fact that the government protects interest of consumer and safeguard against unfair trade practices. To mark this day, Department of Commerce, Saradha Gangadharan College, organized a special lecture for I.B.com students on “Awareness on Consumer Rights” at the college premises on March 16th, 2022. The programme started at 2.00PM in the conference hall. The chief guest Mr. M. Ramaswamy, Master Trainer of Advocates, Judicial Academy, Pondicherry elaborated about consumer rights and suggested success tips for students’ career. Students really got benefited and was fruitful to them.

Saradha Gangadharan College, Sexual Harassment Prevention Cell organized and celebrated “International Women’s Day” on 8th March 2022. The celebration started with the wishes from Dr. K. Uthayasuriyan, Principal, Saradha Gangadharan College. He appreciated the role of women in their walks of life and encouraged them to keep excelling consistently. Sweets and flowers were distributed by SHPC members to all staff members in SGC to mark this as a memorable day.A special program was organised by the SHPC members especially for all women faculty members. Nearly 55 women faculty members participated in the celebration. As a token of remembrance, a group photo was taken at the end of the program.

Women Empowerment Cell of SGC conducted International Women’s Day on 3 rd March 2022 in the college premises. Mrs. Aarthi Nandagopal, Wellness Expert and psychologist, Star Health Insurance, Chennai was invited as a chief guest for the programme. She emphasized on Women Empowerment through highlighting various women icons in the world. Dr. N.Hemamalathi, Coordinator of Women Empowerment Cell delivered the welcome address. Dr. Pazhani Raja, Vice Chairman rendered the presidential address and Dr. K. Uthayasuriyan, Principal of the college felicitated the gathering. The girl students of SGC showed their active participation and involved themselves in various cultural activities. The chief guest distributed the prizes to the winners of various competitions. NSS volunteers of the College undertook an intensive Campus cleaning activity. The objective of the activity was to clean the campus and surrounding area to sensitize the students about Swacch Bharat Abhiyan and maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings. NSS Volunteers of SGC participated in a Mock Exercise on Tsunami scenario on Beach promenade on 14.12.2021 in coordination with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). The purpose of this exercise is to increase tsunami preparedness, evaluate response capabilities and improve co-ordination. The mock exercise was conducted simulating a real time event by playing out a scenario of tsunami threat to Puducherry coast due to an earthquake in the Indian Ocean, and evacuation of the people living along the coastline. All response, rescue and evacuation drills in the event of a real tsunami threat were carried out.

Department of Commerce organized seminar on “Awareness about ICSI” on 7th December 2021 in Conference Hall for the First year students of Commerce. The Seminar focused on exploring the importance of professional courses. Mrs. Chitra Anantharaman, Deputy Director, Southern India Regional Office, The Institute of Company Secretaries of India, ICSI-SIRC House, Chennai, the speaker took over the session and created awareness about ICSI among students.

On account of World Aids Day YRC & RRC unit of our college jointly with IGMC&RI; organized Blood Donation Camp on 11.12.21 between 10.00 AM to 1.00 PM in our college campus. Happy to share that 41 students donated blood on that day. Mr.A.Balavigneshwaran, Asst.Professor, Department of Computer Science also donated blood. Various competitions were held on the theme “End inequalities. End AIDS” on 6.12.2021. Students participated in Essay Writing, Poem and Drawing competitions by showing their interest.

Pondicherry Liberation Day was commemorated on 01.11.2021 at the college premises. The Principal Dr.K.Uthayasuriyan unfurled the tricolor flag in the presence of staff and student Volunteers. He witnessed the honor from NSS Volunteers. Addressing the gathering the Principal insisted upon the importance of the day.

Chandra Prakash of B.com (CS) has secured Second prize in the quiz competition on”Corruption issues and its prevention” conducted by the government of Puducherry on 26.10.2021 .He has been awarded with cash prize of Rs.7, 500.

R. Ajay, the students of Final year BBA has won 2nd place in poster making competition on “Tuberculosis awareness” and also acquired 5th place on “Blood donation awareness” conducted by Red Ribbon club, Pondicherry AIDS Control Society, Govt. of Puducherry in association with National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), New Delhi on 28.10.2021. He has been awarded with cash prize of Rs. 2500 and Rs. 1000.

Department of Commerce organized a one day seminar on “Cognitive Behaviour of Students in Pandemic Period” on 21st October 2021 in Conference Hall for the First year students of Commerce. The guest speaker Mr. V. Gopal Pillai and Mr. A. Sivanandam took over the session and the Seminar focused on exploring cognitive behavior of students to identify their thoughts and behaviors, specifically regarding their relationships, surroundings, and life.

08.10.2021, Friday, SaradhaGangadharan College, Puducherry, accomplished another milestone by contributing to the Assist World Record of the Longest Multinational Confluence “A Day Live Streaming” in “The New Dimensions of Multifaceted Partnership” initiated by Canny Consortium of Colleges to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of our Former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. This 24 continuous progressive hours live telecasting talent show exhibited the cultural events of SaradhaGangadharan College students. The enthusiastic students performed a variety of events like singing, dance, drama, miming,wrestling, yoga, drawing and special talents. This social cultural programme had a live coverage around the globe on 8th October 2021 in Tamil America TV through which the innate capabilities of the students were displayed. The students were highly energetic and showcased their spirited talents in “SAKTHI 2021”. SaradhaGangadharanCollege, was one among the consortium accorded by Dr. S. Pazhani Raja, Vice-Chairman of the institution. This victorious feat was lead by Dr. K. Uthayasuriyan, Principal of the College. The program was witnessed and enjoyed by the new comers of the college along with their parents.

Plastic pollution is today one of the most serious environmental problems. NSS unit of Saradha Gangadharan College Organised Clean India Programme (Plastic Cleaning) on 12.10.2021 at 10.00 A.M. in Velrampet. Our SGC NSS Volunteers Involved in plastic Cleaning, Plant Cleaning in our College Campus and also Collected Plastics from people around Velrampet Village. Phamplets were also issued to increase public understanding and shape community perceptions on the dangers of plastic pollution.

Genesis 2021, a one day workshop on C2C (Campus to Career) and initiation of placement activities for the year 2021 were conducted on 12th October 2021. Dr. K. Uthayasuriyan, Principal of SGC welcomed the gathering. Dr. S. Pazhaniraja, Vice Chairman of SGC delivered the Presidential Address and he motivated the students to upgrade their skills and choose the right career. Ms. Rowena Scurville, Senior Consultant of Ma Foi Educational Services Pvt. Ltd. articulated on getting a successful job. Ms. Padma Jayaraman, Associate Director of CSS Corp gave an overview of the company and the opportunities available for the freshers.

In the framework of the Community Development Programme 153 rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of our Nation was celebrated on 01.10.2021 evening at Shakthi Vihar , Uppallam, Puducherry. The students of SGC and Volontariat actively participated in the event. J. Saradha Gangadharan College, Puducherry celebrated Trio-Event FORTE-2K21 add a mark of commemorating the Foundation Day, launching of Research Fund and Teacher’s Day in a grand manner on 5th September 2021. The Chairman of the college Shri. G. Swaminathan inaugurated the trio-event FORTE 2K21 and launched Saradha Gangadharan Research Fund, an internal funding scheme for undertaking major/minor Research Project by the faculty members. The faculty members based on merit of the Research Project Proposal will receive Rs.40,000/- for major research projects and Rs.25,000/- for minor research projects as financial support every year. On commemorating the 20th year of the College Foundation Day, the Vice-Chairman, Shri. S. Pazhaniraja praised the faculty members who have been rendering their distinguished service for the development of the college. He distributed cash awards and momentos to the faculties who excelled in research and encouraged them to continue their research works. The Vice-Chairman distributed the certificates and cash awards to the faculties, non-teaching and sub-staff who have been rendering their service for nearly two decades in the college. The Registrar of Pondicherry University Dr. B. Chithra proudly acknowledged the involvement of the faculty members in the Teaching learning process. Dr. R. Jayaraman, Member Secretary, Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, Madurai, Mr. Michael Antony, Secretary and Mr. M. Senthil Coumarane, Director, Volentariat, Puducherry signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Vice-Chairman for community service, Entrepreneurship Development and adaptation of Village. The Faculty Members of various Disciplines were given Best Researchers Award for their contribution in Research Activities. The Best Research Awardees are: Dr. Seenu Dhandapani (Language), Dr. S. Kavitha (Science), Dr. A. Anna Sheela (Science), Dr. S. Sathya (Science), Dr. N. Kanikapriya (Arts), and Dr. K. Banumathy (Commerce and Management). Dr. M. Sangeetha, Department of Computer Applications, Saradha Gangadharan College, won the Prestigious SG Excellence Award for Research for the year 2020-21. Saradha Gangadharan College conducted an Essay Competition and Virtual Debate to the students of Puducherry and Tamil Nadu. The Vice-Chairman Shri. S. Pazhaniraja distributed the prizes to the winners. M. Karthikeyan, I-MBA, Pondicherry Technical University, Puducherry and M.Vesalini, III-B.Com, Idhaya Arts and Science College, Puducherry are the winners of Essay Writing and Online Debate respectively. Phase 1 of New India @75th Programme (Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav) was officially Launched by National Aids Control Organisation (NACO), Govt. Of India from New Delhi on 12.08.2021 between 10.00 A.M and 11.30 A.M (Topic - Awareness Compaigns on HIV, TB & Voluntary Blood Donation). Shri Mansukh Mandaviya Hon’ble Union Minister, Health & Family Welfare Government of India had kindly consented to be the Chief Guest & Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar Hon’ble Minister of State, Health & Family Welfare Government of India was the Guest of Honour. 50 NSS Volunteers from Saradha Gangadharan College Participated in the Programme.

As a part of Green Campus Initiatives of SGC, a “Tree Plantation Campaign” was organized at our college premises on 30.07.2021 at 9.00 a.m. The most striking feature of this event was that it was jointly organized by Swachh-Swasth Centre,NSS Unit and ECO club of SGC. Smt. Vanjulavalli Sridhar, IFS , Deputy Conservator of Forests ,Forest Department Puducherry was the chief guest and inaugurated the plantation programme. Vice-Chairman Shri.S. Pazhaniraja who presided over the event added grace to the occasion and honored the chief guest.The Principal Dr.K. Uthayasuriyan, who has been the seed to bring about positive changes and improvements to the society glorified the occasion by his valuable presence. All the Teaching and Non-Teaching staff members graced the occasion by planting the saplings. With the noble aim of making our environment clean and green, staff members pledged to plant more and more trees.

Dr.R.Prabha Asst. Prof., of Tamil has been awarded Tamizhaiyvu semmal for her work in Literature on 21.02.2021 at Pudukottai. She also received the Sakthi award for her new creation on 07.03.2021 at Tirupur

On account of International Women’s Day various events like Mehandi, Rangoli and Food Competitions were organized and conducted by Women’s Cell of our college from 04.03.2021 to 06.03.2021. On 08.03.2021 external members of the Women’s Cell were invited as chief guest and Mrs. Maliga Chandraraj, Rtn. Asst. Superintendent of Nurse, JIPMER, Puducherry gave a motivational speech to the girl students between 10.30 AM and 12.00 Noon in the Conference Hall. In continuation of her speech cultural events were also conducted.
